Galeria Kaufhof

The owner of the building at Alexanderplatz, Commerz Real, is planning a comprehensive redevelopment of the current Kaufhof complex. The project aims to transform the building into a versatile, multi-use facility that will host various functions under one roof. Among other possible tenants, the Central and Regional Library of Berlin (ZLB) may establish a new, modern hub for library users in this space. However, the Galeria Kaufhof department store, which currently occupies the premises, is only leased through the end of 2025 and will need to vacate the building by then to allow for the renovation.
